1. Getting Started

Now that you are ready to start your blog, I’m going to show you how to register for a domain name and web hosting with BlueHost. I chose Bluehost because of my past experiences and also because they are cheap, reliable, and they offer a free domain name. A lot of bloggers use them, so you’ll be in good company.

*Special* Get Bluehost for only $3.49 a month

Disclosure: I receive compensation from Bluehost when you purchase a hosting plan through my affiliate link, this helps keep the tutorial free. If you do purchase through my affiliate link, thank you so much for your support!

Click on the *Special* link above to open Bluehost in a new window. That way you can switch windows back and forth to follow along.

You will see the following Bluehost page, click on the “Get Started Now” button.

Now it’s time to choose your plan. I recommend the starter plan if you are just starting out. You can always upgrade your plan later on if you plan to open multiple blogs. Click the “Select” button of the plan you want.

It’s time to enter your desired domain name and click the “Next” button.

If your desired domain name is not available, you will see the following message. You will also see a list of suggestions available. You can either choose one of these, or search again until you find one you like.

If your domain is available, you will see a congratulations message and the signup form. Fill out your contact information.

Below the contact form, you will see the account package information. You can uncheck the extra options if you don’t need them. You can always add them later.

Below that is the billing information. Enter your credit card details.

You have to check the box to confirm you read the terms and condition. Click the “Submit” button to continue.

On the next page, you will see some upgrade options available. Most bloggers don’t need them, so you can keep them unchecked. Click the “Complete” button to complete your order.

The next page will allow you to create a password for your Bluehost account. Click on the “Create Your Password” button.

Check the box that confirms you read the terms and condition. Enter your desired password twice to confirm it’s correct. Click on the “Create” button to finish your registration.

Now your domain and hosting is all ready to go. You will receive an email confirmation with your new account information. Keep it for your records.

Congrats, your Domain & Hosting are now Active
